Cosmetic Tattoo

Cosmetic tattooing is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure. It involves tattooing specialised pigment into the upper layers of the skin. This procedure can be used to enhance the eyebrows, lips, eyes, scalp and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Cosmetic tattooing provides a semi-permanent look that has been known to last for many years but generally will ‘fade’ or metabolise over time which is why we recommend maintenance visits to refresh the look and crispness. The technique differs from traditional tattooing in that a pigment is used instead of an ink.

Natural fading will occur from external factors like exposure to the sun as well as internal factors such as the gradual breakdown of the pigment. The fading process will differ between people and come down to skin type and lifestyle factors. We usually recommend a touch up once per year for Microblading and every1-2years for shading

  • Great results can be achieved after the first session of cosmetic brow tattooing however we prescribe a follow up visit after the area has healed to perfect the look and ensure the colour is even throughout the whole area or to add any more density.

This will make sure that your tattoo will last as long as possible

  • NO excessive exercise/sweating or extended direct sunlight for 7 days to prevent the wound becoming infected.

Do not touch the healing pigmented area with your fingers as they may have bacteria on them.

Redness and swelling is usually minimal, and will disappear within 48 hours

The treated area may feel a bit tender afterwards but there should be minimal discomfort.

Clients may experience a headache following the treatment.

Apply all aftercare product using a clean cotton swab and not your fingertips.

Keep the tattooed area clean and dry

While showering or bathing, avoid wetting and washing the tattooed area as it can be detrimental to the bonding process that must take place for the pigment to stabilise in the dermis. Only use aftercare cream prescribed by your tattooist on the day of treatment for the following week.

DO NOT pick or scratch at the dry skin/flakiness; let the skin fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring and premature loss of pigment. IMPORTANT: Once the flakes have fallen off, a shiny layer of healing skin will completely cover the hair strokes. It may appear as though the tattooed area has completely disappeared.

DO NOT apply make-up to the tattooed area for the first 2 weeks. Chemicals of any kind may interfere with the healing and colour of your tattoo.

Once the treated area is completely healed, any changes or additions that need to be made can be done at your follow-up appointment no sooner than 4 – 6 weeks later.

Colour will appear darker during the first 5 to 7 days. 7 days later, it loses 40 to 50% intensity.
